NEW .CA REGISTRATION PROCESS DUE IN JUNE
|
New York, NY April 5, 2000 (ICB TOLL FREE NEWS) The Globe and Mail
reports that a new system for registering dot ca web addresses in Canada
will be complete by June, making it easier for individuals and companies to
register dot ca domain names. The current system, operated by volunteers at
the University of British Columbia, will only register names to Canadian
corporations, charities, trademark holders or proprietorships with offices
in more than one province. Andrew Bjerring, director of the Canadian
Internet Registration Authority, said the system will be transferred to the
authority, and registration will be more relaxed -- similar to the U.S.
system requiring only an address, phone number and a credit card.
