Lucent has reached agreement with PhoneRun for joint marketing to service providers of "phonecasting" for fixed and mobile wireless networks. Using voice-enabled technology, phonecasting provides Internet-sourced audio channels for news, entertainment and shopping through telephones. The companies said the service will run on Lucent's mobile communications system (MCS), which makes the Internet accessible for mobile devices. Via telephone, users get access to audio channels such as news, sports scores and traffic updates, Lucent said. "The MCS technology will bring voice-enabled Internet services to both fixed and mobile telephone networks," Lucent Vice President- Intelligent Networks & Messaging Solutions Curtis Holmes said. |
