INFORMATIONPAGES.COM IMPROVES INTERNET YELLOW PAGES
|
Glendale, CA May 4, 2000 (ICB TOLL FREE NEWS) InformationPages.Com
(informationpages.com) has a new solution for Internet
advertising.
The company, headquartered in Glendale, Calif., has developed
proprietary software that can rapidly and dynamically make a complete Yellow
Pages directory available via the Internet. This is the only Internet Yellow
Pages that retains the form, fit and feel of the printed directory. By
partnering with the current directory publishers, InformationPages.Com will
truly provide a platform to allow each directory publisher the opportunity
to place its directory data online.
According to industry reports, Yellow
Page revenues have remained essentially flat over the last two years, and
publishers are losing traditional print advertisers to a more flexible and
unlimited resource -- the Internet.
"We are excited to provide a platform for directory publishers for the
bundling of their printed media and Internet product," said John McLeod,
president of InformationPages.Com. "Local merchants will now have the
opportunity to have an interactive ad online without the convoluted search
results provided by other online Yellow Page hosts. Ad continuity will
remain for both printed and interactive products, eliminating the need of
costly Web designs and hosting services. Features will include hotlinks to
Websites, email and information pages that can be dynamically changed to
reflect weekly sales, classified ads, coupons, etc. Because this platform
will only be made available to legitimate publishers of printed directories,
revenue sources will remain within the Yellow Page publishing industry."
Desert Bloom Inc., publisher of the Ute Pass Gold book
(utepassgold.com) in Colorado, is the first publisher to provide
the printed version of its directory online. Melody Willeford, president
of Desert Bloom, is excited about working with InformationPages.Com. She
will
now be able to offer consumers in their community the ability to "shop" from
her directory online.
Ads are placed in size and seniority order
exactly as they are placed in the printed version, and because of its
affordability, local
advertisers can now compete with their national counterparts for priority
positioning in each category.
"Consumers review ads before making a buying decision.
With the traditional product being online, it makes it easier to see all the
competitors at once," Willeford said.
Since the first contact with Desert Bloom, InformationPages.Com has been
successful in
signing other directory publishers in Colorado and California. The company
has applied for associate membership with the Yellow Page Publishers
Association (YPPA) and the Association of Directory Publishers (ADP).
