ULTRADNS LAUNCHES OPERATOR.COM

San Mateo, CA November 19, 2001 (ICB TOLL FREE NEWS) UltraDNS(TM) Corp., a Directory Infrastructure Services Provider (DISP) last week announced the launch of Operator.com, a consumer and business-to-business resource portal for directory information. The new portal represents a proof of concept by UltraDNS and an extension to its Directory Services Platform capabilities, by converging directory information and connectivity, including Voice-over IP (VoIP).

Operator.com will deliver address and number (traditional, VoIP, and ENUM) listings and other relevant information while also providing VoIP capability. Operator.com will provide users the complete control to manage the privacy and security of the data and preferences made available, allowing users to selectively display the information they want revealed publicly. Additionally, the database utilizes both infrastructure and client-based security measures to prevent unauthorized access.

Operator.com's VoIP capability is made possible by Operator.com's user interface and UltraDNS's underlying technology allowing visitors to utilize UltraDNS's flexible and high-capacity database systems. (This writer was prompted to download a Go2Call plug-in in order to use the demo.)

The Operator.com database was designed by UltraDNS with the scalability to handle millions of entries to its database. Eventually, this database will be extended to encompass publicly available information such as credit information, better business ratings, census information and mapping capabilities.

Operator.com is the precursor to a larger converged services directory initiative in the area of convergence of voice and data including an upcoming launch of Locator.com, an IP location tool.
